On our way we will cross the Plaza de Isabel la Católica, at the intersection between the Gran Vía and Pavaneras Street, where the statue of Isabel la Católica rests, accepting the proposals of Christopher Columbus before leaving for America. The statue, made of bronze and realized in Rome in 1892, was moved in the 60’s from the Paseo del Salón, a park in Granada next to the Genil River that still exists today.

Afterwards we will arrive at Corral del Carbón, a 14th century building that constitutes the only Nasrid alhóndiga preserved in its integrity throughout the Iberian Peninsula and we will continue to the Town Hall Square of the city. From there we will reach other emblematic places such as the cathedral, which represents one of the peak works of the Spanish Renaissance and its construction took almost 34 years (1529-1563) and in one of its chapels, the Royal Chapel, are buried the remains of the Catholic Monarchs.

To get there, we will cross the narrow streets of the Alcaicería and make a stop at the Bib-Rabla square, with its fountain of the Giants, a space whose origin goes back to the Nasrid period and in whose set of half-timbered streets that surround it the commercial life of the city was forged. Surrounding the fountain are some flower houses that change from the sales of firs at Christmas, to the bouquets of flowers on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

Nor will we forget to see, in our tour of the center of Granada, the Madraza, which was the first university with which Granada after its inauguration in 1349, and which is currently used for various cultural activities, to be located in a place so privileged of the city.

On the way to the foothills of the Alhambra, following the course of the river Darro, you will see the Real Chancillería, a judicial body established by Isabel la Católica in 1505, transferring her from Ciudad Real, where she was previously, from 1494. This area, Plaza Nueva, marks the beginning of one of the most emblematic routes in the city of Granada. The Paseo de los Tristes, so called because it follows the same course of the old road to the cemetery, where the funeral cortege passed accompanied by the mourners, hence the name “de los tristes”. This is the way to one of the places with the best views of the Alhambra.

We propose you to meet its people, walk through its narrow streets full of history and discover things you wouldn't find in any travel guide. Come with us for a priceless guided tour in which you decide at the end its value if you liked it.
